Water4 Inspires Innovation and Equips Entrepreneurs in Africa

Water4, an Oklahoma City-based nonprofit, has focused on eradicating the world water crisis by fostering entrepreneurship since 2008.

Guided by a belief that opportunity is greater than charity, Water4 employs a unique approach: empower local men and women in developing countries to solve their own community’s water needs. Water4 accomplishes this through a robust training process, resulting in local entrepreneurs owning and operating their own water well drilling and repair businesses.

Nestor, a Togolese national, is just one example. He is leading the charge in Togo to end the water crisis by innovating new drilling tools for his small business, which now has three active drill teams. Since 2010, Nestor and his teams have completed 353 water projects serving nearly 106,000 people.

Nestor is just one of more than 400 exceptional men and women that Water4 supports throughout Africa. Their goal? To end the water crisis in their own communities in their lifetime.

The weather in Oklahoma is not always kind and sometimes violent, bringing with it floodwaters and high winds that tear apart our beloved state. These disasters are highly visible directly following the event when relief efforts are underway. However, the recovery phase is not high profile, lengthy, and for some families unsuccessful without the proper support and resources. Catholic Charities provides long-term comprehensive case management services to assist families in developing a recovery plan that maximizes use of volunteers, donated materials and financial resources to secure their households and their future. We invite you to join us in helping your fellow Oklahomans repair their homes and their lives with a gift to Catholic Charities.

What started as one camp and a dream has now become six camps serving more than 350 children with various life-threatening and chronic illnesses each year.  Once camp ends, ongoing program efforts continue to serve approximately 12,000 children.

Make-A-Wish-Oklahoma exists with a mission to grant the wishes of Oklahoma children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  The greatest misconception about Make-A-Wish is that all of the children we serve are terminally ill... this is not true.  While all of our Wish Kids are facing life-threatening illness at the time of their referral, many of our kids survive their illnesses and go on to lead normal healthy lives.

Make-A-Wish Oklahoma granted 143 wishes last year and more than 2,500 since 1982!  We serve all 77 Oklahoma counties.  The average wish costs $11,100.
