Seed Money Loan FundThe Seed Money Loan Fund was established to loan money to charitable agencies to assist with upfront costs of fundraising events and fund development efforts. For example, your organization can borrow money to pay costs of producing and mailing appeal letters, for buying merchandise for resale as a fund raiser, or any non-operational cost that has an assured short term return. The Seed Money Loan Fund is not intended to make up for an operational short-fall, but rather to strengthen the organization's fundraising capacity. In 2008, Health for Friends received a loan to pay for the initial costs associated with their inaugural Historic Norman 5K Run. Food and Shelter for Friends also received a loan to purchase pecans for their annual fundraiser. Thanks to the Seed Money Loan Fund, they were able to quickly begin their efforts and repay the Fund following their successful fundraisers. Distributions - "loans" - from this fund can be made outside the Norman Community Foundation's normal granting cycle and application may be made with a two-page letter explaining the fundraising project, its financial needs and the organization's repayment timeline. There are some limitations on the amount and frequency of the loans from the Seed Money Loan Fund, but they are anticipated to range from $500 to $3,000. If the application is approved, the money is immediately available; but as a loan, must be repaid starting with the first dollars received from the fundraising campaign. Application letters may be mailed to: The Norman Community Foundation For more information, please contact the Norman Community Foundation at 405-366-2200. Managed by Javelin CMS |
